The AKEA GEW Series is a range of productive, semi-automated metal-processing machines with rotating tools. The operator interface is intuitive and easy to use. The series is developed for chamfering, peeling, and thread-rolling processes on tube, bar, and rebar materials.

How it works in practice

The GEW Series
The GEW Series is a range of semi-automated machines with rotating tools. Chamfering, peeling and thread rolling on tube, bar and rebar are what it was built for.

Material up to ø56mm
The series is configurable for material diameters from 12mm to 56mm. Thread rolling runs from M12 up to M56.

Long bar handled
Part lengths run from 300mm to 6000mm. Full lengths of bar and rebar go through the machine without cutting down first.

Load and run
The operator places the workpiece in the machine. The chamfering, peeling and thread rolling then run automatically.

Spindles to suit the work
Spindle count is configurable from 1 to 3 depending on your processing demands. Vices run from 1 to 2.

Steady output
The machine produces from 30 to 150 parts per hour. The rate follows the number of operations each part carries.

Rotating tools
Machining is done with rotating tools rather than a rotating workpiece. This is the working principle across the whole GEW range.

Little time lost changing over
The operator interface is intuitive and easy to operate. Setup time when moving between different products is minimal.

Built at AKEA in Thisted
The GEW Series is made at AKEA in Thisted. The same workshop handles service and spare parts.

GEW Series - Metal processing

The series is customer-configurable for material diameters from 12mm to 56mm, with thread rolling from M12 up to M56. Workpieces are loaded manually by an operator, after which the machine automatically performs the chamfering, peeling, and thread-rolling operations.

Setup time when changing between products is minimal. The number of spindles can be configured according to the customer’s processing requirements.
